I saw Chris Mason play at Totton and was very impressed. He has certainly improved since he left us and it's good to have him back.

Agree Stu, he's always been a good player, but its difficult to break into a BSS first team when your only 16-17. Now he's a couple of years down the line with some decent experience under his belt, he will have not only grown in confidence, but will also have developed his strenght. He certainly isnt shy in the tackle either, but what i like most about him is that the minute he gets the ball, he looks up and is instantly looking for passing options and he is capable of playing some decent passes, which is an area i think we need to improve, certainly from the middle of the park. A good player, and one i hope gets a few chances this coming season. It will actually be nice to see one of these lads who have gone out on loan come back and break into the side. Not sure thats happened since i been a fan, usually when they go out on loan, they never return.....

Paul - you mean Mike! Easy to get us mixed up - he's six foot something, wears glasses and he's an ugly son b*tch, apart from that, we are deadringers!!

I will have to agree! It is great to see that loaning youth out may actually work for once.
I saw him play twice last year at Bash, the first he scored a screamer but it was the second game that impressed the most; his maturity and composure on the ball was immense, in fact he didn’t give the ball away once! His strength for a nipper was ridiculous and as for the tackling............. Crickey that is what I call a proper tackle!!
As for all of the above the boy can actually play football, now that is what I like to see!! The delicate little passes & through balls, the 50 yard cross field balls at pin point precision and the trust in others around him to allow a young fella to lead the drive at every given opportunity to attack!!!
I encourage everyone to just watch everything he does on the pitch! Just admire the work rate, drive, determination and to top it off, his natural ability!
When people ask me what will work for EFC this year I will easily say Chris Mason & Anthony Rivs will work great in the centre of the park doing what they do best & Mr Gilly scoring for fun.
I mean the above quote with the upmost respect to the rest of the team as there are some very very talented players available for Bairdy this year. However, I think these 3 guys will be so important to us this term!!!
